Level 3 Health and Social Care

A Diploma in Health and Social Care suits nearly everyone in the Health and Social Care Setting. Learners are able to choose the pathway that suits their position e.g working with children and young people, people with dementia or a learning disability. 

This is the primary qualification required by the Quality care commission in England and the Care Councils in Wales and Northern Ireland. 

Level 3 is ideal for careworkers with some level of responsibiliy in the workplace. Perfect way to display skills to prepare and progress you onto a senior care role. 

The following two pathways are available for Level 3 :

  • Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)
  • Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults).

You complete either nine (Adults) or fourteen (Children and Young People) core units from a selection provided to you, examples include:

  • Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Assessment and planning with children and young people
  • Promote person-centred approaches in health and social care.

Optional Units can also be chosen to suit your particular career pathway : 

  • Work with babies and young children to promote their development and learning.
  • Purpose and principles of independent advocacy
  • Support individuals to access education, training or employment.
A Level 3 Diploma will be suitable for getting into a variety of roles in the health and social care setting, including :
  • residential care
  • community and primary care
  • acute health environments (eg hospitals)
  • domiciliary services (home care / home help)
  • supported living projects
  • community-based care
  • private care for a person or family.
